They were led by our awesome Freshmen players Miley James, Laney James, Trinity Ortiz, Analeia Hand, Addie Mills, and Brianna Brusuelas!! Tri-Peaks League Championship Meet. Swink students had an awesome meet with everyone cutting time. Results 200 Medley Relay placed 5th. Team of Taggart, R. Tirado-Jensen, Davis, Tafoya. 200 IM Rio Tirado-Jensen placed 7th. 50 Free Madalyn Tafoya placed 15th, Emily Brusuelas placed 21st. 100 Burrerfly Sydney Davis placed 4th, Sol Tirado-Jensen placed 9th 100 Free Larriana Taggart placed 7th, Sol Tirado-Jensen placed 22nd. 500 Free Sydney Davis placed 10th 200 Free Relay placed 6th. Team of Porto, Davis, Tafoya, Taggart 100 Backstroke Larriana Taggart placed 3rd 100 Breaststroke Rio Tirado-Jensen placed 9th. Madalyn Tafoya placed 14th and Delilah Emich placed 19th. 400 Free Relay placed 6th with a team of Porto, Mayjoy, S. Tirado-Jensen, R. Tirado-Jensen. Go Lions!!

Swink Athletes of the Week: Wrestling - Thomas Valdez/Senior - 120 lbs Weight Class Thomas is currently ranked 2nd in the state at his weight class leading into regionals and state. He has taken first over and over in each tournament this season and is a serious contender to win state at his weight class. Boys Basketball - Nick Paollucci/Senior #22 - Guard Nick has been leading the Boys Basketball Team with hustle and tough defense throughout the season. This past Saturday he drained threes leading Swink to a big win over Las Animas. Girls Basketball - Madelyn Bamber/Junior #32 - Center Madelyn has scored 14 and 8 pts in 2 of the last 3 wins and is a tough presence on the boards for the Lady Lions. Madelyn has led Our Swink Girls that have won 3 of their last 5 games. Go Lions!!!

Congratulations to Swink High School student athlete Mia Mendoza!!! She is ranked 6th in the state at 125lbs in Girls Wrestling!! This past weekend she beat the number 4&8 ranked girls in the state making her the Tri-Peak League Champion!!! Go Lions!!!

Join us for the 3rd Annual Swink Throwback Night on Saturday, February 15th. Unfortunately, this year it will have to be held in the new gym due to the water leak that occurred in the new gym. We apologize for the conflicts with state wrestling, as the old gym being out of commission has thrown things off for us in planning.

Congratulations to the high school Knowledge Bowl Team on their 2nd place finish today at Regionals in Eads. State qualification will bed determined after all regionals are held.
